Mark your calendars for Wood Lake’s fourth-annual Big Day Birdathon, Saturday, May 6, at Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Drive.  The event begins at 5:30 am and runs until 5:00 pm (feel free to attend any part of the day you wish).  This event is a fundraiser for the Friends of Wood Lake and promotes bird conservation and education in a fun, participatory way.

Registration is $30 per person, which may be collected through pledges for bird species seen. This is a 12-hour event; you're invited to participate in as much of it as you like. Birders are encouraged to raise as much financial support as possible; grand prizes will be awarded to the birders who raise the most financial support and observe the most bird species.  Events include a live eagle show by the Audubon Center of the North Woods, naturalist-guided bird hikes, live bird-banding demonstrations, bird photography class, and opportunities to win fabulous prizes!  Tickets may also be purchased for $5 for just the Live Eagle Show on a first-come, first-served basis.  Call Wood Lake at 612-861-9365 for information.
